Betting tips and top picks for Week 10 in the NFL

The 2020 NFL season is now past its halfway point. COVID-19 has had an effect on the season, but not like many anticipated. The season is on schedule to have all 32 teams play all 16 games in 17 weeks.

In Week 10, the coronavirus may have an effect on whether or not the NFL still has an unbeaten team next week. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is on the Steelers COVID-19 list and cannot practice. He has not yet been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.

With that game up in the air, here’s a look at the NFL’s best bets in Week 10.

Chargers @ Dolphins OVER 47.5

This is simply a no-brainer. Two rookie quarterbacks lead a pair of offenses that can put up a ton of yards and score. With a few plays going the other way, the Chargers might be .500 or better.

Each of L.A.'s last two games have come down to the final play. Over the Chargers last two games, the offense averages 470 yards per game. For the season, QB Justin Herbert leads an offense that is second in the NFL averaging 420 yards a game. The Chargers are scoring 30.6 points over their last five games.

Tua Tagovailoa took over the Miami offense two weeks ago. He's 2-0 and was much better last week than in his first start. The Dolphins rookie was 20-of-28 for 248 yards and two touchdowns in last week's win over Arizona. Miami put up 34 points in the victory. 

The Over is 5-0 in the Chargers last five games and since 2003, the Over hits at about a 55 percent clip for the Chargers when they are on the road - 75-62-3. Take the Over in this one.

Jaguars @ Packers (-13.5)

If you’re going to bet on a quarterback against the spread, one of the guys at the top of your list should be Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers. He's even better when playing at home at Lambeau Field.

He has had only one losing season ATS in his career and that was his very first as a starter. For his career Rodgers is a healthy 55-31-3 ATS at Lambeau.

Now, the Packers will face a Jaguars team that is struggling. The Jags haven't won a game since their season opener and played last week with their backup quarterback, Jake Luton. 

NFL teams have had great success against Jacksonville since the Jags run to the AFC championship game in 2017. Opponents are 23-15-2 ATS against Jacksonville since 2018.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks ATS with additional preparation time. The Packers played last Thursday and will have an additional three days of prep for the Jags. Rodgers is 6-3-1 ATS in Sunday games played on 10 days rest after playing the previous Thursday.

Washington (+4) @ Detroit

Fading Detroit head coach Matt Patricia is a thing. It might not be for long. If bettors continue to win on Patricia, he's probably headed out the door in the Motor City.

But, bettors can get in on Washington at +4 because Patricia's Lions do not play that well as favorites. Opponents that have visited Ford Field are 12-7 ATS against Patricia. Underdogs are 6-4. 

Here's the kicker though. Road underdogs are 4-1 ATS when facing Patricia at Ford Field. Washington just happens to be 3-1 ATS in its last four games and the Lions are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. Guess what that means? Fading Patricia is a thing.
