College Basketball Betting: San Diego State Aztecs vs. Boise State Broncos

San Diego State places its undefeated season on the line in a tough environment in Boise Sunday afternoon on the CBS Sports Network.

San Diego State has a perfect 25-0 record and they face a potentially treacherous foe in Boise State. The Aztecs are no fluke, as they are ranked No. 4 nationally. This is further back up by the highly respected KenPom.com website that shows the Aztecs as one of only two teams in his Top 10 in both Offensive and Defensive efficiency. (Duke is the other)

Coach Brian Dutcher has a veteran squad, led by junior guard Malachi Flynn, who’s the team’s leading scorer and assist man. Flynn looks to push the ball at every opportunity for a club averaging 76 PPG.

San Diego State is not just a perimeter-oriented outfit, as senior big man Yanni Wetzel is a force in the paint at 6-10 and 6-6 forward Matt Mitchell is the Aztecs second-leading scoring and rebounder.

The real calling-card of this team is its defense, holding foes to 58.8 PPG on 37.8 percent shooting. The Aztecs don’t allow opponents to overwhelm them behind the arc, holding them to a mere 28.2% from deep.

The college basketball odds have San Diego State at -6 and bettors love their 16-6-1 ATS record.

Aztecs -6 points -110
Broncos +6 points -110

Don’t expect Boise State (17-9 SU, 16-9 ATS) to roll over at the raucous Taco Bell Arena, where the crowd figures to be hotter than the Bell’s “fire sauce”.

The Broncos are tied for second place in the Mountain West at 9-5 and are 12-1 SU and 10-2 ATS at home. Boise State averages 77.7 PPG and depends on floor spacing to generate scoring chances and they pass the orange extremely well to find looks in the paint or behind the three-point line.

Boise State averages 8.5 three’s a game and will need a dozen to have a chance for the upset and those opportunities will come from moving the ball. Though the Broncos are average defensively, they will have contest all shots without fouling and crash the boards.

For college basketball picks, we’ll hitch up with Aztecs. Their defense is so rugged and they will cause droughts for Boise State. Also, if the game comes down to the final minutes for San Diego State to ice it away, they have four starters that make over 80% of foul shots.
