Early Props and Betting Action for Super Bowl LX

A look at some opening props and line movement based on betting volume.

Early props and insights on early line movement

What started as a fun way to keep bettors entertained during a lopsided Super Bowl (shoutout to Refrigerator Perry) has evolved into one of the biggest betting attractions of the entire NFL season: Super Bowl prop bets.

Today, props aren’t just a side dish to the spread and total — they are the main event.

Super Bowl early props line movementAccording to BetOnline.ag, the number of wagers placed on Super Bowl props last year was 10 times greater than the combined bet count of the point spread and game total. That’s not a trend - that’s a full-on takeover.

And now, the betting action is officially underway.

BetOnline, the sportsbook known for posting the widest and wildest betting menus in the industry, released its first 11 Super Bowl prop bets early Monday morning and they are already getting action. This opening wave features a mix of:

 - Fun, novelty-style props
 - Team and Super Bowl–specific wagers
 - Traditional Super Bowl staples
 - Early odds on the Super Bowl MVP

Early Super Bowl Betting Action: Seahawks Take Control

While props are stealing the spotlight, the early betting market on the game itself is already making noise — and the Seattle Seahawks are clearly the early public and sharp favorite.

Seattle Seahawks favored in SBLXThe lookahead line for this Super Bowl opened at Seattle -3.5. That line came off the board once championship weekend kicked off, and after the matchup was finalized, the Seahawks reopened at -4. It didn’t last long.

The number was quickly bet up to -5, where it has held steady for more than 24 hours. At that price point:

79% of the public betting action was on Seattle
91% of the professional (sharp) action was also backing the Seahawks
That kind of alignment between public and pros is rare — and worth paying attention to as the market continues to evolve.

Other Early Super Bowl Betting Notes Worth Knowing

As the board continues to fill out, here are a few early Super Bowl nuggets bettors should have on their radar:<

- 46 is the lowest Super Bowl total since Super Bowl 50, when the Broncos and Panthers closed at 43.
- This is the first Super Bowl since Super Bowl 50 where both head coaches are making their Super Bowl debut.
- Underdogs have covered the spread in each of the last five Super Bowls.
- The Patriots entered the season at 80/1 to win the Super Bowl.

In the past 50 years, only three teams have reached the Super Bowl with preseason odds of 80-1 or higher. The 1999 Rams (150-1) were the only team to win it all. The 2021 Bengals and 2016 Falcons both fell short.

Sam Darnold will become the first USC quarterback to start a Super Bowl and he is the first QB from the 2018 NFL Draft class (Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, etc.) to start a Super Bowl.
