Out west, an NL West rivalry rekindles in its first meeting of the season. The division lead could be on the line.

Here's a look at the hot betting events for the weekend of May 22-23.

NBA Playoffs: Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets - Game 1
It's the opening game of the NBA playoffs for No. 2 seed Brooklyn and No. 7 Boston. The Celtics earned the spot by virtue of their 118-100 win over Washington in their play-in game. Jayson Tatum erupted for 50 points for the Celtics.

Brooklyn is expected to have their Big Three - Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden - ready to go for the postseason run. The Nets can fill it up. They finished No. 2 in scoring during the regular season.

They are also the home team, which in the NBA playoffs is a big deal. Home teams win 65 percent of the time in the NBA postseason. The Nets will also be favored in this one. The only thing that wins more than an NBA playoff team at home? An NBA playoff team at home as the favorite.

NHL Playoffs: Vegas Knights at Minnesota Wild - Game 4
If there was a first-round opponent that Vegas did not want, it was the Minnesota Wild. The Wild took Game 1 in Las Vegas in overtime to give the Knights a scare. Vegas came back to get a 3-1 win in Game 2.

The difference in this series will be defense and that advantage goes to Vegas. The Golden Knights finished the regular season first in goals against (2.18). Minnesota was 16th (2.84).

So far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Vegas goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has a 0.98 goals against average and a .969 save percentage. Both of those are the postseason best so far.

The two teams will play Game 3 on Thursday before Saturday's Game 4. It's a crucial game in the series as the winner of Game 3 could grab a two-game lead in the series with a Game 4 victory.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants Series
The sky has appeared to stop falling in Los Angeles where the Dodgers are now just two games out of first place in the NL West. They will face rival and division-leading San Francisco for a three-game weekend series that begins on Friday.

This will be the first three games of 19 that the two teams will play this season. The Dodgers struggled through a recent 10-game stretch where they won just twice, but have turned it around and won six of their last seven.

Ten of the Dodgers last 15 games have seen the total go Over. L.A. has had run totals of 14, 6, 7, 9, 7, and 9 all in their last nine games. The Giants counter with a pitching staff and defense that gives up the second-fewest runs in the majors.

The Dodgers have been an underdog exactly once this season. You might find an opportunity to cash in on the Giants as a home underdog this weekend. San Francisco is 3-1 this season as a home dog.
