HOW TO BECOME A BOOKIE

NBA Playoff Race

On Saturday, expect some serious points when Washington travels to Indiana. The Wizards feature Bradley Beal, who has either been No. 1 or No. 2 in the NBA in scoring all season. Washington is fourth in the NBA in scoring averaging 115.8 points per game.

NBA weekend betting tipsIndiana is eighth at 115 a game and leads the NBA in Overs. The Over is 39-24-1 in Pacers games this season. The Pacers and Wizards are also competing for ninth (Indiana) and tenth (Washington) place in the East.

The two teams have played twice this season. Both games went Over including last week's ridiculous 154-141 Wizards victory. A play on Sunday's total is worth a look.

On Sunday, Miami travels to Boston clinging to sixth-place in the East. The two teams will also play in Boston on Friday night. The results will determine which team has to play in the play-in tournament.

The Heat have won four of their last six, but check out the total in this one too. Miami has a string of seven straight games in which the total has gone Over.

Sunday night's Knicks at Clippers game is also worth checking the spread. The Knicks have the best ATS record in the NBA (42-22-1) and have covered in 15 of their last 16 games.

NHL Best Bets

As the NHL nears its season's end, the New York Rangers will play essentially a meaningless game against Boston. The Rangers cannot catch the Bruins for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division.

NHL weekend betting Rangers BruinsWhat they can do though is cover spreads. The Rangers have the best ATS record in the NHL at 35-18. In six games against Boston this season, New York has covered in four.

The other near sure thing in the NHL happens to involve one of the league's worst teams - Detroit. While the Red Wings don't win many games, they do trend to the Under. This season, the Under is 32-18 in Red Wings games.

Detroit plays Columbus, the last place team in the Central Division, on Saturday. The two teams have played six games thus far this season. All six have seen the total go Under. Regardless of whether the posted total is 5.5 or 5, bettors should consider this low-scoring affair.

MLB Deja Vu

Remember a week ago when the Giants-Padres series was one of the hot bets of the weekend? Well, the two teams meet again in a weekend series, but this time it's in San Francisco.

Giants Padres MLB bettingThat should bode well for those betting MLB and the Giants who happen to own a 10-3 record at home. Bettors should pay attention to early spreads to see if they can catch the Giants as a home underdog.

The Padres won two of the three games last weekend. San Diego still owns the best overall ERA in the majors. The Giants are now fourth.

While the quality pitching points to Unders in this series, bettors might consider the alternative. Prior to their Thursday game, the Giants scored 25 runs in their previous three outings.
