Kurt Busch is a favorite as the NASCAR schedule resumes at Darlington with the Real Heroes 400, part of a whirlwind of activity over the next eleven days.

The focus of much of the sports world will be on Darlington, SC on Sunday.

And BetAnySports customers who are inclined toward motor sports will be right on top of it as well.

After being entertained with simulated racing for a while, it is time for the "real thing" to unleash itself again. And although there won't be any fans in the stands, there should be enough adrenaline in everyone's system to make up for it.

This is a highly unusual situation, because the drivers have not had the opportunity to get into a car during this break, and there is not only not formal qualifying procedure here (a drawing was conducted to determine starting positions, with Brad Keselowski on the pole), but the race teams cannot employ a full crew. The shop crews don't have access to the track, and the drivers can't get into the shop.

NASCAR will play certain parts of this by ear, but the drivers will unquestionably get an opportunity to work things out; between now and May 31, there are FIVE Cup Series events scheduled. That includes a Wednesday race at Darlington AND the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte next Sunday, where they will stay for a Wednesday race, then move onto Bristol (May 31) for the Food City 500.

The Real Heroes 400, which will pay homage to health care workers and first responders who have been critical during this coronavirus crisis, starts at approximately 3:30 PM ET on FOX.

This is what it looks like as far as the top ten drivers, as far as they are listed at BetAnySports:

Kyle Busch +600
Denny Hamlin +700
Kevin Harvick +800
Chase Elliott +800
Brad Keselowski +850
Martin Truex Jr. +900
Alex Bowman +1000
Joey Logano +1000
Erik Jones +1250
Ryan Blaney +1500

You can also wager on the drivers as part of two-way propositions; there is a "doesn't win" price on them as well.

Maybe the starting positions are going to be very important here. Darlington is a difficult track to navigate, and although we understand that most of these drivers are thinking about taking it a little easy in the early going, considering that they haven't been in a race car for a while and should be feeling their way around, are going to be going after it early anyway, just on instinct. Nobody wants to fall far behind.

Those drivers who are starting near the back of the pack might be able to afford hanging back and seeing what happens at the start. And the first couple of rows at the front have a better chance of staying clear of a real logjam. But the cars in the middle of the pack may find chaos. We're talking about notables such as Martin Truex Jr., Erik Jones, William Byron, the comebacking Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Denny Hamlin starts in the #10 position, and is priced at +575. He is this year's Daytona 500 winner and has been a rather proficient driver at Darlington, having finished among the top four in five of his last eight outings there. And the fact that he didn't follow up the Daytona win all that strongly may not play against him here, since both positive and negative momentum may have been interrupted. At BetAnySports, Hamlin is +170 to finish in the top three and -120 to post a top-five result.

Kevin Harvick looks like a possible play for a top-three finish (at +250), if you want to take some of his recent history at Darlington into account. he's been top ten in his last six at this track, and over the first four of those races he has led an amazing 518 laps.

Ryan Newman returns to action, which is cause for celebration. As you probably remember, Newman was contending for the Daytona 500 title in the waning moments, but wound up in a wreck that was so catastrophic that there were fears for his life. But fortunately the injuries weren't as serious as was originally suspected, and he says it is like a "miracle" that he has been able to come back. But oddsmakers are obviously figuring that he'll ease his way back, as he is a longshot at +5000.

Yeah, it's chalk for the most part, but we'll be on Hamlin and Harvick for those aforementioned plays. And then after Sunday, we'll have more to go on.
