The Golden State Warriors, plummeting in the NBA Western Conference, will visit the Sacramento Kings on Monday night at the Golden 1 Arena.

The Sacramento Kings didn't start off the season too badly, but they are still trying to find their way. And after eight losses in their last ten games, they have played themselves into the position where they have to leapfrog a number of teams to get into the NBA Western Conference playoff queue.

The Golden State Warriors, the defending West champions, have to leapfrog even more teams, since they are dead last in the conference. And in what amounts to a lost season, some guys are surrendering.

The Kings and Warriors get together in NBA betting action that is set to get underway at 10:05 PM ET at the Golden 1 Arena in Sacramento. And did you know - BetAnySports customers can watch the game and place wagers on it at the same time as they access what is available through Sports Betting Ultra.

Sacramento comes into this game with a record of 13-23, which puts them in 13th place in the Western Conference, which actually doesn't leave them too far out of the playoff race; in fact, they are only two games behind the eighth-place San Antonio Spurs. Nonetheless, there are people who have expressed a desire to want "out," including center Dewayne Dedmon. Against the number, the Kings are doing better, with an 19-17 ATS mark.

Golden State (9-28 SU, 17-20 ATS) has fallen quickly, but of course much of that has to do with the departure of Kevin Durant, not to mention injuries to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Whether those two will play this season, or whether they will shut themselves down (i.e., quit) if the team is too far out of the playoff race remains to be seen.

But the Warriors are still talking about potential deals. D'Angelo Russell does not really fit into the "culture" the ownership likes to embrace, because he is a me-first player, but Golden State believes he may have some trade value which, perhaps coupled with the high lottery pick they will almost surely have, might land a player to help them in transitioning back toward contention. The player most prominently mentioned is Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns, who's got great numbers (26.5 ppg, 11.7 rpg) but has become disgruntled in Minnesota (as most players seem to). With him at the center spot, and Curry and Thompson eventually healthy (whenever that is), the Warriors could actually be formidable again.

In the NBA betting odds that have been posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports - infused with reduced juice - the Kings are double-digit favorites:

Sacramento Kings -10 (-108)
Golden State Warriors +10 (-102)

Over 214.5 points -105
Under 214.5 points -105

Russell is not even going to suit up for action on Monday night, as he is listed with a shoulder injury. And Draymond Green is out with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, the Kings have NOT been a money-making proposition at home (7-10 ATS). And they have now lost nine of their last ten games, with the lone victory coming against Memphis four days ago.

Golden State has not shot well when traveling; they are hitting less than 43%. And after beating the Pelicans in their opener, they have won just twice on the road.

But the question isn't whether they can win here; it's whether they can make the game competitive. Should that be the question we're asking, however?

Sacramento has played four of its last five, and seven of its last ten, over the total. For most of this first half of the season, they played at a very slow pace. Most of that had to do with the injury absence of De'Aaron Fox, and the fact that without Marvin Bagley (who was also injured - and questionable here), they couldn't get out and run as much. So Luke Walton promoted the idea of playing more deliberately.

But now, Fox and fellow guard Buddy Hield are ready to make good on their New Year's resolution, which is to get out and run a lot more. "We want to pick our pace up," said Fox. "We’ve talked about it. We’ve practiced doing those types of things. We just have to be able to translate it.”

Walton says that his team has lacked the continuity to get the running game going, which is why we haven't seen more success with it.

The Warriors are allowing 40% shooting from three-point range on the road. For the sake of illustration, 40% is higher than any individual team is shooting this season from beyond the arc. Maybe that is a route for the Kings to go. But you know, they have also allowed fewer fast break points than anybody, and get to the free throw line less. So we're not prepared to play anything but the "under" right now.
