Current Odds:

Toronto Raptors 215
Golden State Warriors -1

This will be Golden State’s fifth-straight appearance in the NBA Finals and it will be going for its fourth world title in that same span. The Warriors needed six games to get past the Los Angeles Clippers in the opening round, but they ramped things up from their with a 4-2 series win against Houston ahead of a four-game sweep over Portland in the conference finals. They were 12-4 straight-up with a 7-8-1 record against the spread.

Golden State lost Kevin Durant in Game 5 of the Houston series, but it has not missed a beat in his absence. Still listed as out for Thursday’s Game 1, there is no set timetable for Durant’s return. In his place, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have done a great job to fill the void. In the series against Portland, Curry averaged 36.5 points per game verse his 27.3-point scoring average in the postseason.

NBA Playoffs free pick Warriors - RaptorsToronto lost the series opener against Orlando in the first round before winning the next four games. It needed full seven games and a miracle game-winning shot in that Game 7 matchup against Philadelphia to get past the 76ers in the conference semifinals. Against Milwaukee in the next round, the Raptors turned a 2-0 series deficit into a 4-2 series win with another four-game run. They were 12-6 SU in 18 playoff games with a 10-8 record ATS.

The Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard ahead of this season for one specific reason; to end a string of disappointing early exits in the playoffs. Even though Toronto is a heavy +270 underdog on the series price odds, Leonard still gives his team a chance to pull off the upset. He has averaged 31.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists through the Raptors’ 18 playoff games.

It is hard to see Golden State losing this series even if Durant remains on the sidelines. However, I am going with Toronto at home on Thursday night to make things interesting right out of the gate with a SU Game 1 win.
