Pandemic casualty: Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas to close

A casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the long-trumpeted Las Vegas buffet has largely gone away as people have become more cautious about their food and beverage options.“Based upon guest feedback, we found that many guests prefer a more traditional buffet experience over the served all-you-can-eat format,” Wynn said in a statement.

The Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas will close next week, the company announced today.

A casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the long-trumpeted Las Vegas buffet has largely gone away as people have become more cautious about their food and beverage options.

Along with the rest of the Wynn Las Vegas campus, the buffet closed in March if order to help curb the spread of COVID-19. It reopened in June with a reimagined concept where offerings were delivered to dining tables.

“Based upon guest feedback, we found that many guests prefer a more traditional buffet experience over the served all-you-can-eat format,” Wynn said in a statement.

A spokesperson left the door open for a possible return of the venue at some point, saying the company will “continue to assess the situation and make a determination on reopening at the appropriate time.”

The buffet will close 8 p.m. Monday.
