Parx Casino Bensalem Set to Launch Online Sports Betting Soon

During a recent hearing with Pennsylvania gaming regulators, Parx Casino officials told the state that they are ready to begin testing and could launch fully by next month. The launch of an online gaming site for sports betting is expected to increase the growth of the industry in the state.

A few weeks ago, it was made known that online gambling would be launching soon in the state of Pennsylvania. After passing legislation in late 2017, the entire year of 2018 was spent licensing operators and approving partnerships. In 2019, players have been anxiously awaiting a launch. The Parx Casino has now confirmed that they are about to start testing their online sports betting site this month and could be ready to offer services by June.

Getting Started
During a recent hearing with Pennsylvania gaming regulators, Parx Casino officials told the state that they are ready to begin testing and could launch fully by next month. The launch of an online gaming site for sports betting is expected to increase the growth of the industry in the state.

Parx Casino operator Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment Inc., announced the launch dates as they attended a relicensing hearing with the Gaming Control Board. The relicensing process takes place every five years. The hearing came at a good time as the operator is ready to get going with their sports betting services.

The company was unanimously approved yesterday for their license renewal and officials are excited to see the brand get started with online sports betting services. Since launching in land-based format, sports betting has not seen massive returns. The industry began back in November when the Hollywood Casino first launched services and so far, only just over $44 million in wagers were placed in March and only $5.5 million in revenues generated.

The numbers are relatively low when you compare them to neighboring New Jersey. For sports betting in the Garden State, in March alone, the state saw just over $372 million in wagers and over $31 million in revenues.

Additional Approvals
During the Gaming Control Board hearing, additional approvals were given for sports betting. The Mohegan Sun Pocono was approved for a sports betting license, becoming the 8th casino in the state to secure licensing. With gaming venues in the mix, the state will hopefully be able to see better overall revenues.

However, it is the mobile component that should set the industry up for major success. Over the past few years, mobile access has proven to be vital, no matter the gaming option. Players want to have access to wagering via a mobile device. The online access allows players to wager from wherever they like. Convenience plays a huge role in how players bet. With mobile and online options, players have the maximum convenience factor.

New Jersey is a prime example as to how successful a sports betting offering can be with a mobile component. Overall, around 80% of the wagers placed in the state via sportsbooks is completed online. Not 50%, not even 75%, but a whopping 80%. This means that the majority of the bettors accessing sportsbooks are doing so online.

In New Jersey, the mobile component was a must. The majority of gambling in the state is offered in Atlantic City. With land-based only options, players would have to travel to AC to post their wagers. In Pennsylvania, the casinos are more spread out, but mobile is surely going to help push the sports betting revenues to the next level.

It will be interesting to see how well the Parx Casino does once they fully launch online. Hopefully, the state will see a nice increase in revenue
