In terms of the matchups, who have the advantages as the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams meet up in Super Bowl LIII.

Anybody who is following the proceedings leading up to Super Bowl 53 would tell you that if the Los Angeles Rams manage a victory over the New England Patriots, it might constitute a "changing of the guard" with Sean McVay anointed the new king of the hill. Sure, we're being colorful with the whole thing, but we've never seen a head coach OR a quarterback this young, or as much of a disparity between the experience levels of the QB-coach combinations on each team, especially in episodes of this much significance.

So there is indeed some drama as we await the kickoff, which is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. And remember that BetAnySports customers will have the opportunity to get great odds before the game with reduced juice, and then after the kickoff they can access Live Betting Ultra for real-time wagering.

You have to be impressed by the way the Patriots. who were not considered a genuine threat by many, looked in two playoff games, as they were decisive in defeating the Los Angeles Chargers, who were designated as a "hot" team, then went on the road to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, who had the best record in the AFC.

And even though the Rams' victory over the New Orleans Saints was clouded by a horrific officiating mistake, it was a win nonetheless, and coming back from a 13-0 deficit shows their mental toughness.

One thing that strikes you when you look at the Rams' offensive performance is that sometimes they have been stopped short in the red zone, forced to settle for a field goal from the reliable Greg Zeurlein. They are, in fact, 16th in the NFL when ir comes to the percentage of possessions that result in red zone points and 18th in red zone touchdowns. And this isn't necessarily what you would expect from a "boy genius." It's not that we don't like him, but we also recognize that everything isn't ideal with this Los Angeles offense, and perhaps it becomes even more problematic without having the injured Cooper Kupp around.

The Rams' defense has been rather imperfect as well. Consider that they have gotten, at best, a disappointing effort out of Marcus Peters (although admittedly he's been better since Aqib Talib came back from injury). They have surrendered 5.1 yards per carry, which is 32nd (and last) in the NFL. And while they may have Aaron Donald, one of the truly dominant forces in the NFL, as well as Ndamukong Suh alongside him, they don't have fearsome pass rushers from the edge. So the assignment for the offensive line, while not simple, is pretty clear: they have to minimize the effect of Donald's inside pass rush as much as possible. That is a sizable task, as Donald had an incredible 20.5 sacks, and so we may see whether Bill Belichick and his staff, known for taking away the best thing their opponents do on offense, may also be able to do the same on defense. And of course, Tom Brady's quick decision-making comes into play, as it can have the effect of mitigating big-time pressure.

Pass protection is obviously going to be part of what the Pats want to do, but another thing that must get consideration is the running game. And there is plenty of evidence that New England can do it, and we know, from the first two playoff games, that they can commit to it. Sony Michel has been a true standout, with 242 yards and five touchdowns against the Chargers and Chiefs. If the Pats can control the ball, it helps them; it's that simple. And they have the machinery to make this happen.

And we certainly ask ourselves the question as to which of these two quarterbacks is more likely to crumble. Brady has demonstrated the ability to handle just about any kind of situation, as evidenced by many fourth quarter comebacks (including the one two weeks ago in Kansas City) and world championships. If the Rams' inside pass rush works, he could be in for a long day. But if the Pats neutralize that, it's the L.A. secondary that will have nightmares.

SBLIII analysis odds betting tipsIt's no secret to BetAnySports patrons that Jared Goff can't match Brady's instinct, and he won't have Kupp at his disposal, which means he will have to compensate for that - with the aid of Sean McVay and staff, of course. But with just six touchdown passes in his last seven games, and only three playoff games under his belt, he may need a lot of support from the running game to make things click for him. And that may leave Belichick in a situation where he'll stick an extra linebacker on the field and challenge Goff to beat them with his arm. And in the secondary, we imagine that Brandin Cooks is the guy the Pats try to take out of the game.

Ultimately, Brady's ability to adjust on the fly, along with his running game's ability to crank out yards, become distance-makers. The Los Angeles offense is mighty efficient; in fact, they make big plays, have advantageous third down situations and are not often removed on a three-and-out (only 10.9% of the time), but remember that New England is ranked in the top ten in a lot of things, including both yards AND points allowed per drive. And we're looking at the Pats to be the team less likely to create the stupid turnover, and that mitigates what stands out about the Rams' defense, which is to force their opponents into miscues.

There is so much more that can be written about this game, but some of these fundamental matchups give us some justification for laying the points with the more experienced Patriots.
