Lakers-Celtics

It's one of the NBA's most treasured rivalries. The two teams with the most league championships will square off for the first time this season.

The Lakers, of course, are the defending NBA champs. Boston is currently second in the Eastern Conference standings and just one game behind first-place Philadelphia.

Celtics Lakers betting tipsThe Celtics will be well-rested for Saturday night as they are off both Thursday and Friday. Los Angeles plays at Detroit on Thursday night. The Lakers are 14-4 overall owning the NBA's best record. They also have the best road record, a perfect 10-0.

The two teams have split their season series in each of the last three seasons. What stands out though in the last six meetings between the two teams is the point total. Four of the six games have seen the total hit 226 or higher.

L.A. is eighth in scoring this season averaging 114.3 points a game. Boston is 12th, scoring 113 per game. Both teams are healthy and load management shouldn’t be an issue on Saturday night.

The Lakers have faced some big totals this season. In their past ten games eight of the totals have been 219.5 or higher. A total of 11 of the last 16 Lakers games have seen the Under hit. With a total in the 220s, look at playing the Under despite two extremely talented offensive teams.

Battle for Virginia

It's defending national champion and eighth-ranked Virginia heading to Blacksburg to face in-state rival Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 11-2 and ranked 20th in the latest AP poll.

Virginia Virginia Tech NCAA free pickThe Cavaliers are the only unbeaten in the ACC checking in at 7-0. The Hokies are 5-2 in conference play and, historically, have not fared well against their in-state opponent.

Sam Hauser leads Virginia scoring 15.0 points a game. He also leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 boards a game. Virginia is again among the nation’s best defensive teams holding opponents to just 59.5 points per game.

Virginia Tech has four players that average in double figures led by Keve Aluma’s 13.9 ppg. Playing the Cavaliers though will test the Hokies offense. Virginia Tech has lost the last four straight to Virginia and did not score over 59 points in any of those games.

Your best bet is to play the Under as this will be another defensive battle of ranked opponents.

The Tide scores almost 82 points per game and Oklahoma has been known for its up-tempo style of play under head coach Lon Kruger. Prior to a game against Kentucky on Tuesday night, Alabama had a record of 7-1-1 ATS in its previous nine games.
