Huge betting opportunities are on tap for this weekend. Check out the betting tips for NBA, MLB, UFC and the Preakness Stakes.

Betting tips and top picks for weekend action.

It’s just a weekend in May, but it is full of sports action. The NBA regular season will end this weekend and a handful of games will have some impact on the play-in tournament and the playoffs.

A big MLB series between division contenders takes place as does UFC 262 and the Preakness Stakes. While it’s just a weekend in May, it is full of hot betting events.

NBA: Hornets at Wizards

Take a good hard look at the opening spread in this one. Washington is currently in 10th in the East and Charlotte is eighth. The Hornets and the Pacers are both 33-36 and are one game ahead of Washington.

It could be that this game gives the Wizards a home game in the play-in tournament. Regardless, Washington is 13-4 SU in its last 17 games and in those 17 games the Wizards have a 13-3-1 ATS mark.

Charlotte has beaten Washington twice this season, so expect them to be favored.

NBA: Suns at Spurs I & II

NBA betting tipsThe Suns and Spurs will play two games on back-to-back days to end the regular season. The Spurs have four games - Brooklyn, New York, and the two Phoenix games - remaining.

San Antonio has yet to clinch a play-in tournament berth, but the Spurs are 2.5 games ahead of 11th-place New Orleans. The Pelicans have three games left - Dallas, Golden State, and the Lakers.

The Suns have played 14 back-to-backs this season. Only once have they dropped both games. Phoenix has clinched a playoff spot but would love nothing more than to hold onto the No. 2 seed. Currently, they are two games ahead of the Clippers.

The total in the Suns' last seven games has gone Over. They have had numbers as low as 217 and as high as 231.5. San Antonio has seen the total go Over in six of its last nine games. In those nine games, the Spurs are averaging 120-plus points per game.

With some playoff positioning on the line, expect these two teams to go balls out on Saturday and let it all hang out. Play the Over up to 230.

MLB: Cardinals at Padres

When St. Louis travels to San Diego for a three-game weekend series, take a look at the pitching matchups. The Padres have the lowest ERA as a pitching staff in the majors. St. Louis is fifth in opponent batting average.

You may find a play on the Under in one of the three games or you might consider a team total. Kwang Hyun-Kim pitches on Sunday for St. Louis and is 1-0 with a 2.74 ERA.

UFC 262

UFC 262 betting tipsThe main event on Saturday night is the lightweight battle between Charles Oliviera (30-8-0) and Michael Chandler (22-5-0).

Oliviera is a -125 favorite and rightfully so. He’s won eight straight fights. Chandler is listed at +105. He was a Bellator fighter before signing with UFC last year. He did win his first UFC fight, a first-round knockout of Dan Hooker who was ranked No. 6 at the time.

Preakness Stakes

It's the second leg of the 2021 Triple Crown and if you have been paying attention there is a world of controversy surrounding Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit. Still, the horse is the favorite to win the Preakness Stakes on Saturday.

Medina Spirit is listed at +180. Concert Tour, which is also a Bob Baffert horse (trainer of Medina Spirit), is given +250 odds and Midnight Bourbon comes in at +500.

Thirty-six horses have won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Medina Spirit starts out of post No. 3 and will have a great chance at becoming No. 37.

Bet the Preakness at America's Bookie.
