The Oregon Lottery unveiled their sports betting app this week, and today was the first Sunday with pro-football.

The state said thousands of people have already registered to bet on the app, called "Scoreboard."

“I've had the app for two days now, I think I've placed 8 or 9 bets,” said Saad Bennani. “There are always other backchannels, other underground ways to place bets, through a bookie or other underground websites online that aren't legal. To have something like this where it's legal and endorsed by the state, I feel more confident in my bet placing and getting my money back.”

Initially the lottery hoped to unveil the app before the start of the NFL season, however, it wasn't available until week seven.

Users reported some issues when they downloaded the app at first, but now say it's improved.

So far 16,500 people have registered, and at last check, users had bet more than $500,000.

Some experts worry about the consequences of making gambling easier and more accessible to Oregonians. The lottery says they have added built responsible gaming measures into the app.

If you or someone you know may have a problem with gambling, there is always someone available to talk.

You can reach the Oregon Problem Gambling Helpline any time at 1-877-MY-LIMIT. You can also text (503) 713-6000. Both services are confidential and free.
