Polish authorities issue illegal gambling warning

Poland's Ministry of Finance and National Revenue Administration have issued a warning against participating in or offering illegal online gambling.

In a statement, the bodies advised that as a Polish resident, participating in gambling outside Poland or partaking in gambling that contradicts the Gambling Act – such as using unlicensed websites – is illegal.

Those who offer illegal gambling are subject to a fine of up to PLN4.4m (Β£841,206/$1.1m/€975,740), in accordance with article 23, sections one and three of the fiscal penal code.

Operators may also face the fine if they offer gambling products in a way that contradicts a licence or permit they have received.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance and National Revenue Administration stated that it is also illegal for individuals to use foreign licenses and permits to offer gambling in Poland.

However, internet domains used to organise promotional lotteries are legal, as long as a permit is granted by the director of the tax administration chamber.

Polish authorities keep a blacklist of almost 15,000 illegal gambling sites, with new domain names added on most days. Among the sites added in recent days were Agentspins.com, Nitrocasino.com and sites from Campobet.
