UFC 289 Preview

A betting preview for UFC 289, with predictions for Nunes vs. Aldana, Oliveira vs. Dariush and Mallott vs. Fugitt.

Preview for Nunes vs. Aldana

UFC 289 is set to take place this Saturday evening at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and there is plenty of hype and anticipation leading to this event. There is a huge fight set to headline the action, but some other great bouts on the undercard as well.

Obviously, the first place to start when looking at UFC 289 is the biggest pairing of them all, Amanda Nunes against Irene Aldana. The UFC 289 main event is a bantamweight title bout. Nunes will be looking to retain the crown against a fighter on the improve.

UFC 289 Nunes Aldana preview predictionNunes has whipped every single fighter who’s ever held the bantamweight title. She is the one of the best female fighters in the history of UFC, but is figuring to get a solid challenge here.

Aldana was expected to be in the octagon back in May, but injury to her opponent allowed her to slide into this bout. She is worthy of a shot, though difficult to see her way of beating Nunes.

Nunes is overwhelmingly favored in this one, priced at -350, according to UFC 289 odds. That doesn’t really scream "value" when making that bet, but it’s the only way to go in this one. Nunes isn’t going to lose here.

There are any number of alternative bets in this bout, as per UFC 289 prop wagers.

Oliveira vs. Dariush

While the Nunes-Aldana bout is going to get the bulk of the attention at UFC 289, there are other solid bouts on the card. The penultimate fight features Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush.

This battle of lightweight contenders is expected to close, and the betting odds are indicative of that. Oliviera is a tepid underdog at +120, while Dariush is currently being listed at -150.

Nunes Aldana UFC previewFeeling like a bout that is going to go the distance, these are fighters who are going to spend the early rounds trying to feel out the opponent. That may change as the bout unfolds, but it's hard to see anyone landing a big punch or a takedown in this one.

Taking Dariush at -150 is the safe choice in this one, but there is more value with the underdog.

Mallott vs. Fugitt

A welterweight battle is one of the other featured events at UFC 289, as Mike Mallott takes on Adam Fugitt, with the winner perhaps getting a title shot down the road.

Since Mallott and Fugitt are extremely aggressive fighters, this is a bout that should end quickly.

Mallott is the betting favorite at -210, as he has proven in recent battles to be a tough foe. Fugitt is a solid +165 dog in this battle, with some question marks at this point of his career.

Perhaps a Parlay

There are plenty of other big battles set to take place at UFC 289, and while looking at each fight individually is one way to go with your MMA wagering, consider a parlay. There is plenty of information available about each bout, so a parlay (bigger risk = bigger reward) is appetizing.
