NFL Week 6 Injury Update

A look at the NFL injury reports for this weekend and how they affect betting for Week 6.

Week 6 NFL injuries

Injuries to some of the NFL's biggest stars not only affect the team's ability to win games, but also has a huge impact on betting lines and the public perception of the outcomes of point spreads. Below we break down the latest NFL injury updates and what it means for betting Week 6 of the NFL season.

Tua Tagovailoa - Dolphins QB

Miami vs Jacksonville - London, UK
Betting Line: Dolphins (-3)

Tua Dolphins London betting tips injuryThere is good news on the injury front for the beleaguered 1-4 Dolphins. For this Sunday's game in London, they may have Tua Tagovailoa back under center. He has returned from the IR and did practice with the team on Wednesday, making it likely that we will see him play against the Jaguars.

The timing is ideal for the Dolphins because backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been limited in practice this week because of a hamstring injury.

Played in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the Dolphins are field-goal favorites on the BetUS Sportsbook NFL odds board.>/p>

Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison - Vikings RBs

Minnesota at Carolina
Betting Line: Vikings (-2)

It's getting a little thin in the Minnesota running backs room. Dalvin Cook is dealing with an injured ankle, and Alexander Mattison has a shoulder injury, and both have an unclear status for Sunday's game at Carolina.

Cook has been at practice, but he's been limited. Mattison, on the other hand, has yet to practice this week and is the more likely of the two to be unavailable on Sunday.

If neither Cook nor Mattison can play, next up on the Vikings depth chart is Ameer Abdullah.

Joe Burrow - Bengals QB

Cincinnati at Detroit
Betting Line: Bengals (-3.5)

Bengals Joe Burrow betting oddsLast Sunday, it was scary post-game news for the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow. He was taken to the hospital following Cincinnati's overtime loss to the Packers with what was called a throat contusion.

He has since received the all-clear from doctors and has been a full participant at Bengals practice this week. He will play against the Lions without any limitations. The top online sportsbooks have the Bengals as 3½-point road chalk against the winless Lions.Betting odds: Packers (-6)

It's the first time in his Bears career that Justin Fields gets to experience the Bears-Packers rivalry, but he might have to take on Green Bay this weekend without his best wide receiver, Allen Robinson. He was a surprise addition to the Chicago injury report with an ankle injury and did not practice on Wednesday. The betting odds sat at Packers -4.5 until the announcement. Perhaps a little over-reaction from the public has pushed that number to 6.

If Robinson can't go on Sunday, look for Fields to lean more heavily on Darnell Mooney and Jakeem Grant.

Laremy Tunsil - Texans OT

Houston At Indianapolis
Betting line: Colts (-10) at BetUS

Initially, the plan was for Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil to play through a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb. Now he's decided to have surgery on the injury, which will sideline him for at least the next month.

Texans Laremy Tunsil injury betting predictionTunsil was injured last Sunday against the Patriots, and he struggled to continue in the game, playing just a total of 26 snaps.

Geron Christian stepped in for Tunsil last week, and he is expected to get all of the starts that Tunsil misses.

Christian will be in charge of protecting the backside of rookie quarterback Davis Mills, who will go back to the bench when Tyrod Taylor is healthy again. This is according to head coach David Culley, who also confirmed that Taylor is still out this week because of a hamstring injury.

T.Y. Hilton - Colts WR

Houston At Indianapolis
Betting line: Colts (-10)

The struggling Colts have the 14th ranked passing offense in the NFL through five weeks, and there is help arriving in the person of T.Y. Hilton, who has been on IR since September 2 and has yet to play with Carson Wentz.

Hilton is a four-time Pro Bowler, and he led the NFL in receiving yards in 2016. But injuries limited his production in 2019 and again here in 2021.

Rodney Hudson - Cardinals C; Maxx Williams - Cardinals TE

Arizona at Cleveland
Betting odds: Cleveland (-3.5)

The unbeaten Cardinals have a big matchup against the Cleveland Browns this weekend, but they are going to be short-handed heading into the game.

Maxx Williams suffered a serious season-ending knee injury against the 49ers on Sunday, and he was placed on injured reserve. The exact details of the injury were not revealed.

Cardinals injuries Ertz trade betting lineCenter Rodney Hudson will also miss this week's game, although his rib and shoulder injuries will hopefully be healed by Week 7. Max Garcia will play for Hudson this week and any other weeks he might miss. Hudson is the fourth different Cardinals player to miss time because of an injury to his ribs.

The Cardinals are also expected to be without pass rusher Chandler Jones, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. He hasn't officially been ruled out, but he has had symptoms, which will slow down his return to the lineup.

But, the Cardinals traded for four-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz from Philadelphia to shore up the TE position and still find themselves a road underdog of 3½ points against the Browns according to NFL point spreads. If you like Arizona to cover, grab the 3.5 now as the public perception of the Ertz trade will almost certainly push this line down to the Key Number of 3.
