The Oregon Ducks will be looking for some payback as they play host to the Colorado Buffaloes, with an opportunity to bolster their NCAA tournament credentials.

In this crazy college basketball season, no one is going to play the kind of schedule they would have otherwise. And some teams have been upset by this more than others. The Oregon Ducks are one of them, having competed just once between January 9th and February 4th. There may or may not be some games rescheduled, but time is running out on opportunities for them to impress the selection committee from the NCAA Tournament.

On Thursday night they are in a critical revenge situation as they take on the Colorado Buffaloes at the Knight Arena in Eugene. Game time is 11 p.m. Eastern, and while ESPN2 is televising it, BetAnySports customers can get in on the action with real-time wagering through Sports Betting Prime.

COLORADO BUFFALOES at OREGON DUCKS, 11 p.m. ET

Pac-12 Basketball Betting Odds: Oregon - 2.5, Total 140.5

Colorado comes into this game of the record of 16 - 6, and they are looking to rebound from an incredibly disappointing performance, as they lost 71 - 62 to California. In that game they hit just three of 15 triples and had just five assists. No doubt Tad Boyle had some stern words for his charges. Colorado does not have a glittering resume, having lost to Utah, Washington, UCLA and Arizona already in conference play. In the early part of the season, they played a nationally-ranked SEC team but lost 56 - 47 to Tennessee.

They do hold a 72 - 62 victory over USC, which happened on New Year's Eve. They shut the Trojans down, holding them to just 38.3% shooting, and that included star freshman Evan Mobley, who hit only five field goals.

There are indeed superlatives for Colorado, as they rank 12th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to Kenpom, and they are the #1 free throw shooting team in the nation, hitting a sizzling 82.4%.

These teams played previously, on January 7th in Boulder, and Colorado came out of it with a 79 - 72 victory. Although the Buffs made just seven out of 27 from beyond the arc, they hit 61% inside of it, and pulled down 13 offensive boards. They also hit 14 of their 15 free throws, holding to form and then some. McKinley Wright had 21 points and ten rebounds for the home team, while Chris Duarte threw in 27 points for the Ducks.

Oregon lost their season opener to Missouri, but then came back to beat Seton Hall in a pre-season showcase However, their best win of the campaign may have come on Sunday, as they beat Arizona 63 - 61. They come in with a 12 - 4 record for Coach Dana Altman, but it's not going to look good on their ledger that they lost to both Oregon State and Washington State at home. Sure, they were missing players in those games; against the Beavers they did not have the services of Duarte or LJ Figueroa, and Eric Williams was missing for the game against Wazzu.

Whatever the case, this lingers as a very huge game for Oregon in order to to get an at-large bid to the Big Dance.

Oregon has an interesting lineup, being that it can be considered position-less to an extent. There are four players you stand 6'6", and one of them is Williams. He has had some availability issues, not only because of the coronavirus but also a knee injury. Last time out he had nine rebounds but went scoreless against Arizona State, as he had trouble with his shooting form. He'll be a game-time decision.

We look at this and we do indeed see the Colorado is outstanding doing certain things. But when contested, they are not as good as their numbers when it comes to triples. If Oregon can keep them off the free-throw line, that definitely helps their chances.

But one of the other things you have to look at is Colorado's ineptitude when traveling to Eugene, where they have lost on their last six trips, both straight-up and against the number. Yes, we are hoping that Williams is available, but above all else, revenge and desperation will work. Let's lay this small number with the Ducks.
