UEFA Champions League

The final match of the Champions League semi-finals takes place on Wednesday night, and after a miraculous comeback by Liverpool that turned the footballing world on its head, another fellow Premier League side attempt to follow in the Reds footsteps.

Ajax vs. Tottenham
Johan Cruijff ArenA, Amsterdam, Netherlands
TNT - SKY Sports - Univision

The stage could not be more massive for each team involved, with the opportunity to advance to Madrid in June, we should expect each side to leave everything they have to offer at the legendary Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Ajax steps onto their home pitch in marvelous form, after adding the first piece to a potential treble on Sunday with a League Cup, the young Dutch-men attempt to punch their ticket to the finals, and compete for the ultimate prize in club competitions.

Erik ten Hag continues to cement his name in club lore, after arriving on the job in 2017, the longtime Eredivisie man has lifted this sleeping giant back to prominence on the world's stage.

The Lancer's Lethal Attack

The hosts offer a lengthy list of world-class talent throughout their unrelenting squad, with a handful of teenagers also contributing at a high level, it is pure joy to watch this team working at peak performance.

Dusan Tadic gets the honor of leading the line for this fluent attack, after resurrecting his career with the Dutch giants by compiling 31 goals and 15 assists in all competitions, the former Southampton man attempts to add to those numbers against his old EPL rival.

The remaining front-line duo of Hakim Ziyech and David Neres round out a formidable trio, with each pacey winger offering support to their feared center-forward, expect the Spurs backline to face constant pressure when this skilled tandem moves forward in attack.

Teen phenom's Matthijs de liLigt, and Frenkie de Jong have defied all logic on this magical run, overcoming their inexperience playing at this highest of levels, each will be placed in significant roles to help limit Spurs counter-attacking system, with the Londoner's wanting to run at every possible moment.

AJax is coming in riding a remarkable UEFA record, having failed to taste defeat in 18 of their last 19 matches, while averaging 1.9 goals per match at home during this season's Champions League run.

Tottenham arrives in the Dutch capital on a downward spiral, after advancing through into the semi-finals, Spurs have compiled a record of 1-3, including losing to this same Ajax side just last week.

Mauricio Pochettino must invigorate his troops to have a better performance than their last time out, after failing to hit the back of the net on their soil, the Argentine head man must devise a game plan to allow his players to thrive during their travels.

Spurs Struggling Past The Finish Line

The visitors are officially running on fumes, and they will be playing their tenth match in a month on Wednesday night. Spurs have seen their form dip as of late, performing at the lowest of levels, they must dig deep to overcome this daunting test ahead of them.

Son Heung-Min does return to the squad after serving a one-match ban during the first leg. The South Korean is a crucial element to Spurs attack, his pace in the open field is the true equalizer within Pochettino's plan of attack, able to slice defenses apart with his technical abilities, with 21 goals and seven assists, his overall contributions will be required for Tottenham to advance to the finals next month.

Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen will offer support for their star danger-man, with each failing to make a significant impact during leg one, the Spurs midfielders must rise to the occasion if Spurs have any chance of upsetting this electric Ajax side, and facing off with their fellow EPL mates in Madrid next month.

The guests must also lean heavily on their revamped backline, with Serge Aurier and Davinson Sanchez both missing from the starting eleven. Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier will now fill in at the fullback roles, hoping to keep the Lancer's trigger-men in front of them, knowing they must maintain a clean sheet to have a realistic shot of another Champions League shocker.

Tottenham have been a respectful unit away from home during this season's European action, averaging 1.6 goals per match, Spurs must lean on their past performances, knowing valuable road goals carry significant weight.

Ajax vs. Tottenham - Match Prediction

The second installment of this must-see event should provide more action than the first round. Each team produced a plethora of chances to score, although we only witnessed one singular goal, there were plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net, I expect a more clinical approach as these two teams meet for the return leg.

Ajax has been road warriors during this seasons tournament, and now the youthful side must play host for the right to play in the finals on their home pitch, it will be interesting to see how they handle this particular situation.

The Lancers have shown they fear no team in Europe, having dispatched of Real Madrid and Juventus over the past two rounds, and their unmatched work ethic has overwhelmed their opponents, averaging three goals per match in all competitions at home, they enjoy entertaining their loyal supporters each time they step onto the pitch.

Tottenham are getting little chance to overcome their current dilemma, but the Londoner's have come accustomed to being doubted, after being given a low percentage to surpass Manchester City in the quarter-finals, Spurs managed to bag three away goals and stun their doubters along the way.

The deck is stacked against the visitors once again, looking overmatched last week at White Hart Lane, we must expect a better output with so much at stake, playing in their first semi-finals during the Champions League era, the opportunity to collect their first UEFA trophy is there for the taking.

Match Prop
Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals  -110 / 1.91

After enduring another first leg under result, we have seen the return legs produce more goals. Spurs know they must push for the equalizer, while Ajax only knows how to play one way, full force ahead, not wanting to sit back and protect their slim lead, placing more pressure on Tottenham who could find themselves in a vulnerable position with so many men pushing forward to score.
