20516 RB Leipzig - 20517 S.S.C. Napoli

Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, Germany

2-22-2018 - 1:00 pm ET

The second leg of this featured match returns to Germany, after the RedBulls of RB Leipzig left southern Italy with a 1-3 victory against Serie A leaders Napoli, the stage is now set for the young German upstarts to close out "The Light Blues" in front of their passionate fans.

Napoli enter Tuesdays match with little motivation to continue in this seasons Europa league proceedings, the Italian side have made it known they are placing all their eggs in one basket, making winning Serie A their main priority after failing to capture a domestic title since 1990, now having conceded 3 away goals at the San Paolo, the Little Donkeys should play for little more than pride during their journey onto German soil.

The Italian outfit earned their way into the Europa League by way of elimination from Champions League group stages, after compiling a mediocre 2-0-4 record in a competitve Group F, Napoli finished 3rd with 6 points after yet another early exit from Europe's top competition.

Even with the lack of European success, Maurizio Sarri has been a true innovator during his tenure with the Neapolitan club, his flare for attacking football has produced a beautiful style of play, which in turn has translated into a winning culture that continues to see his sides qualifying for tournament play, now his ultimate goal of capturing the Scudetto seems to have taken precedence over all other team objectives.

Sarri will have several decisions to make ahead on Thursdays fixture, with a road match against Cagliari scheduled on Monday, the Italian head man could choose to play a secondary rotation in favor of keeping his starters fresh for the stretch run, even so his tactics within his 4-3-3 formation can still strike fear in opposing defenses regardless of the personal, his sides rarely leave any match without netting at least one goal, and based on their opposition we should expect that trend to continue.

Belgium International Dries Mertens has been cleared to participate in the return fixture, after missing out on the first leg due to a suspension, the Napoli danger man is available if Sarri decides to place him in the starting eleven.

Mertens has been on fire domestically having netted 6 Goals during his last 7 Serie A matches, while putting together another well rounded campaign with 18 Goals and 9 Assists tallied in all competitions, his presence alone could make a huge difference in the overall outcome regardless of the deficit with Napoli's potent offensive attack.

Piotr Zielinski and Adam Ounas could once again find themselves playing valuable minutes during the return leg, the youthful tandem have shown flashes of brilliance with 7 combined Goals scored in all competitions.

With the opportunity to shine on the European stage, the young strike-force should be highly motivated if called upon to represent their club against the tenacious German side.

Napoli have failed to show their true quality during their travels in UEFA competitions this campaign, scoring an average of 1 Goal per match in their last 3 European road games.

The Napoli defense has also failed to show their true class away from the San Paolo, conceding an average of 1.7 Goals per match in their last 3 European road games.

RB Leipzig sit in the pole position to the Round of 16, the RedBulls demonstrated their true determination after going down 1-0 in Italy, the Germans then proceeded to place 3 goals on the board while leaving the Naples faithful in shock, now with numerous advantages you would expect the young German side to keep their foot on the gas against this explosive Napoli side.

Leipzig look content on avoiding their second straight elimination from a major European tournament, after seeing their Champions League dreams fade away by finishing 3rd in Group G, now after being granted a automatic birth into the Europa league, the RedBulls believe they can capture the title, while keeping their club in the world's spotlight.

Ralph Hasenhüttl lead his men to the San Paolo with a masterful game plan, now the Austrian head man must stay aggressive and avoid just sitting back and absorbing the pressure that is sure to be applied by the Italians, his free flowing 4-2-2-2 - 4-4-2 formation is constructed to push forward and offer up a creative attack,  we should expect Hasenhüttl to know Napoli will get on the score-sheet over the course of 90 minutes, and his side must match them goal for goal to avoid a second leg disaster.

Timo Werner will carry the main responsibility of breaking the visitors back-line down, the German International has continued to prove his worth in the top flight table, while demonstrating his overall talents for the world to see, after netting 2 Goals to rally his side back during the first leg last Thursday, the dynamic forward is keen on adding to his 17 Goals and 3 Assists produced in all competitions.

Bruma, Emil Forsberg, Kevin Kampl and Yussuf Poulsen are set to accompany Werner in the Leipzig attack, with an extensive amount of creativity in the RedBulls front-line, Napoli will have to stay disciplined within their defensive shape while at the RedBull Arena, with 13 Goals and 10 Assists combined in all competitions, the young RedBulls are certain to provide pure quality going forward while on their side of the pitch.

RB Leipzig have consistently found the back of the net while in front of their adoring fans, scoring an average of 1.7 Goals per match in their last 3 European home games.

The Leipzig defense has been penetrated while own their own patch, failing to keep a clean sheet, while conceding 1.7 Goals per match in their last 3 European home games.

Prediction:

This match should offer up fireworks from the opening whistle, even with Napoli's reluctance to stay on two fronts with their league title being the main objective, the Italians are still professionals who would prefer to have a better showing than their last in Naples.

While RB Leipzig know they must stay within their style of play, using aggressive attacking football too their advantage, while pressing their opponents into mistakes and causing turnovers which lead to fast breaking situations, the RedBulls are fully aware of how dangerous this Napoli side can be when fully motivated, avoiding complacency will be their main focus.

We should expect multiple Goals during this return leg fixture, both clubs have scored in all 7 of their European matches, while posting double figures a combined 6 six times during that span of play, this trend looks to continue with these 2 world class attacking sides sharing the field at the same time on Thursday.

Expect one of the more entertaining events during this Round of 32 match up, with the Germans holding the advantage as they look to solidify their spot in the final 16, but do not completely overlook this Napoli side with the possible inclusion of Dries Mertens, anything is possible.
