After losing Game 1 to Texas Rangers with some extra inning drama, the Arizona Diamondbacks try to pick themselves up off the floor and even up the World Series in Arlington on Saturday.

Corey Seager got the Texas Rangers to extra frames with a two-run homer in the bottom on the ninth, and Adolis Garcia did what Adolis Garcia has been doing throughout the postseason - he hit one out of the park in the bottom of the eleventh to deliver a 6-5 win for Texas, in a game where they got off to a 2-0 lead but absolutely could have lost.

And so we go to Game 2, as the D-Backs, a resilient team all year, need to regroup. They'll send Marrill Kelly to the mound against Jordan Montgomery in this battle that begins at 8:05 PM ET in Arlington.

Nathan Eovaldi got touched up for five runs before his exit with two out in the fifth inning, but the good news is that after that, the Texas bullpen, which has been the subject of some skepticism, threw a clean sheet for the remaining 6-1/3 innings.

Meanwhile, coming out of Arizona's 'pen, Paul Seward and Miguel Castro both surrendered homers.

And there are BetOnline's World Series odds on Game 2:

Texas Rangers (Montgomery - L) -146
Arizona Diamondbacks (Kelly - R) +134

Over 9 Runs -107
Under 9 Runs -113

D-Backs +1.5 Runs (-155)
Rangers -1.5 Runs (+135)

The D-Backs are now 61-61 when facing a right-handed starter. But against lefties, they are a 60.4% proposition (32-21).

But this won't be just any left-hander they're facing.

Montgomery has been a godsend for this Texas rotation since coming over from St. Louis. He gave up just two runs in his last 27 innings in the regular season, and in the postseason he's had one bad outing - that coming against Baltimore - but he was outstanding in two starts in the ALCS against Houston, yielding just two runs in 12-2/3 innings. And in Game 7, he tossed 2-1/3 of scoreless relief innings.

Back in April, Arizona hammered him, and he exited the game after four innings and seven runs. But in August he was sizzling, throwing shutout ball over eight innings.

Kelly has started once against Texas - a sensational outing in July 29 in which he allowed one run on three hits before leaving with two out in the eighth. Five of his last six outings have been pretty good, although it should be noted that he gave up three homers in Game 2 of the NLCS against Philadelphia.

We mentioned that Christian Walker, who hit 33 homers in the regular season, would have to get going with the bat in order to give the D-Backs their best chance. He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Friday night and is now hitting .163 for the postseason.

Both of these teams used a lot of pitchers in Game 1. Bruce Bochy, who has three World Series titles to his credit, made use of some guys who were in no man's land on this staff, including Dane Dunning, Jon Gray (former starters) and the former closer, Will Smith. The bullpen has some upside.

We wonder whether Andrew Saalfrank, who was not called upon in Game 1, will be used by Arizona manager Torey Lovullo on Saturday night. This is a rookie who had just 10-1/3 innings of experience in the majors coming into the playoffs, and he's walked seven batters in his last 1-2/3 innings of work.

As for Adolis Garcia, that's his eighth home run of this postseason, and we wonder if there's any end in sight. Montgomwery will have to keep a particularly close eye on what he does with Ketel Marte, who's gone 3-for-6 against him and has a 17-game postseason hit streak, and Gabriel Moreno, who has had four hits in seven trips, including a homer.

Certainly the Rangers could have let this one slip from their grasp on Friday night. But this team has its two biggest bats (the ALCS MVP and the 2020 World Series MVP) functioning just fine, and the closest thing they've had to an ace on the mound. With a sterling 52-34 mark on their home field, they'll continue to put their best foot forward. Texas.
