MLB Underdog Odds, Picks, and Analysis for Tuesday 6/11

OSGA analyst and writer Ross Benjamin makes a strong case for a trio of MLB money line underdogs on Tuesday’s card. Anyone can pick large favorites which will ultimately completely deplete your bankroll. Ross goes out on a limb to provide you with well calculated MLB betting values.

Arizona Diamondbacks (Duplantier) @ Philadelphia Phillies (Arrieta)
Game# 951-952

The MLB betting odds at 5Dimes indicates that Arizona is a money line underdog of +125 in this National League game.

DBacks Phillies free pickArizona has dominated the Phillies since 2017. During that time, the Diamondbacks are 11-3 overall versus Philadelphia and that includes 6-1 at Citizens Bank Park. Furthermore, Arizona enters today on a 5-game winning streak.

The Diamondbacks are a respectable 21-16 on the road this season. They’re coming off last night’s 13-8 win at Philadelphia. Additionally, Arizona is an extremely profitable 8-1 on the road in 2019 after scoring 10 or more runs during their previous game. They’ll be facing a Phillies team on Tuesday that owns a stellar 37-29 (.561) season record. The Diamondbacks are an outstanding 10-1 this year when facing a team with a win percentage of .540 to .620.

The Phillies Jake Arrieta has been terrible in his last 2 starts while compiling a large 9.31 ERA and 2.38 WHIP. Arrieta also surrendered an alarming 5 home runs in just 9 2/3 innings pitched in those previously mentioned pair of starts. Arrieta doesn’t figure to get much help from his bullpen based on recent performance lines. Phillies relievers have an unimpressive 5.14 ERA and 1.81 WHIP over their last 7 games.

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks +125

Milwaukee Brewers (Peralta) @ Houston Astros (Peacock)
Game# 975-976

Bookmaker currently has Milwaukee as a money line underdog of +109 in this inter-league game between teams leading their respective divisions.

Houston’s bullpen has been terrific for the better part of this 2019 MLB campaign. However, during their previous 7 games they’ve struggled which is evidenced by its 6.07 staff ERA. The Astros were idle yesterday, and they’ve gone a poor 5-10 at home since last season following an off day. The usually offensively potent Astros have amassed just a .681 team OPS over their past 7 games.

Milwaukee enters this series riding a 4-game win streak. During that successful span, the Brewers have outscored those 4 opponents by a cumulative score of 25-10. They’ve also collected an impressive .822 team OPS during their prior 7 games played.

The Brewers will be facing Houston starter Brad Peacock on Tuesday. Peacock has allowed only 0.45 home runs per game this season through 11 starts. Conversely, since the start of 2018, Milwaukee is an extremely profitable 26-9 (.703) when facing pitchers who give up an average of 0.50 or fewer home runs per start.

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers +109

Chicago Cubs (Quintana) @ Colorado Rockies (Lambert)
Game# 957-958

According to current betting odds at BetOnline, Colorado is listed as a money line underdog of +118.

The Cubs are an outstanding 24-11 at Wrigley Field in 2019. Nevertheless, they’re an uninspiring 13-17 in away games, and it includes losing 6 of its last 7 when taking on that exact role. Chicago’s bullpen has been shaky on the road in 2019 which is proven by their lofty 5.40 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in those 30 games.

Rockies MLB pickColorado is presently riding a 9-game home winning streak. The Rockies 22-year-old pitcher Peter Lambert is slated to make his 2nd career MLB start tonight. Ironically enough, his MLB debut came last Thursday at Wrigley Field when he limited the Cubs to a mere 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking only 1 during 7.0 innings of work. Lambert can have confidence in knowing his bullpen has gathered a very good 1.96 ERA and 0.87 WHIP throughout their previous 7 games.

The scheduled home plate umpire tonight is Gary Cederstrom. He can certainly be labeled as a textbook homer. Since 1997, home teams have gone 408-336 (.548) when Cederstom is behind the plate, and an even better 48-30 (.605) over the past 3 seasons.

There’s more than enough supporting data to make the home team a solid betting value. One of my MLB underdog picks today will directly correspond to that prior statement.

Pick: Colorado Rockies +118
