Betting tips and predictions for Chiefs at Raiders and Titans at Jags
My partner on one of this week's Winners Circle NFL videos, Big Al McMordie and I take a look at the week 18 NFL card and discuss the awful situation from the MNF game between the Bengals and Bills. In addition, we make predictions for both Saturday games - the AFC South showdown between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars for the division crown and a playoff spot and the Chiefs push for a win and outright claim to home field advantage throughout the playoffs, well kinda.
Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders Preview and Pick
Saturday, 1/7 at 4:30 PM ET
Current Line: Kansas City -9.5, Total 52.5 at BetOnline
Despite the wrangling of the NFL in the wake of the Damar Hamlin injury, the Chiefs are still playing here for the top seed in the AFC. Though they may have to face the Bills on a neutral field, should both get to the AFC Championship game, a win gives K.C. the No. 1 seed, but a loss, combined with a Bills win, moves the Chiefs to the #2 seed. The Chiefs will be playing all of their starters and certainly, this is still a big game for them
This game total jumped off the board, and though it is high at 52.5 at the top online sportsbooks, there is a reason for that. The Chiefs have the #1 offense in the NFL, #1 in passing yards and have scored more points than any other team. They average 29.1 points per game and the current favorite for MVP, Patrick Mahomes, has been incredible all year.
These two teams have gone over the total In their last 5 meetings. Since 2020, the Raiders are 17-6-1 over the closing total at home, including 6-0-1 to the over in games where the total is 51 points or over. In other words, when the total is high for the Raiders at home, the oddsmakers have been spot on posting higher totals, and the games still go over!
The Raiders managed to rack up over 500 yards and 34 points last week against the #2 defense in the league, with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback. He is the big question in many bettors' minds and Big Al's. Can he have another big game this week. The Niners great defense is not stellar vs. the pass and Kansas City's numbers are right in line with the Niners. I'll take OVER 52.5 points Saturday afternoon.
Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars Preview
Saturday, 1/7 at 8:15 PM ET
Current Line: Jacksonville -6.5 (-107), Total 40 at LooseLines
Jacksonville won the first meeting of the season between these two teams a month ago, 36-22. Trevor Lawrence threw for a career-high 368 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score enabling the Jags to win for the first time in Music City since 2013! Big Al had a pick on the Jaguars in that game and looks at the total in this game as well.
Jacksonville has won six of their last 8 games and has put up some big numbers in those wins. Lawrence has been really good over the last month or so. But, the Titans have their back against the wall. The Titans sat Derrick Henry last week, but he is still one of the top three backs in the league and will be active on Saturday. This should be one of the best games this weekend.
