NFL Week 8 Previews and Predictions

Previews and predictions for Bears at Cowboys and Patriots at Jets from Ross Benjamin and Doug Upstone.

Betting tips and predictions for Week 8 NFL action

The two teams from New York have been quite a surprise so far in 2022 and the shock of what is going on with Tampa Bay cannot be understated. But, my partner on today's Winners Circle video, Doug Upstone, steers clear and makes his selections for the Cowboys/Bears matchup and I have a free pick on New England at the New York Jets game this week. Read below and watch the video for some NFL betting advice for Week 8.

New England Patriots at NY Jets Preview and Pick
The Jets are the surprise of the AFC and are firing on all cylinders, with four consecutive wins SU and ATS. In that run, they’ve taken out the Dolphins (minus Tua) at home and the Broncos and Packers on the road. Yet, they are dog this week, at home vs. the Patriots on short week after a tough loss.

Patriots Jets free pickThe Patriots suffered an embarrassing loss on Monday Night Football and did not play well. They allowed 243 yards on the ground and turned the ball over four times, which is very un-Belichick like. The Patriots have only beaten the Steelers, Lions and Browns, while losing to the Packers, Ravens and Dolphins before Monday night's disaster.

The Jets have won their last four by 12.7 points per game. In addition, they have been running the ball very well in their last three games with 156 yards per game and over five yards per carry. Yes, leading back Breece Hall did get hurt last week, but backups Michael Carter and a trade for James Robinson with Jacksonville bolster the running game for NY. I'm going against many of my fellow handicappers here and will take the Jets to cover at home. But, I'm also going to buy this game up to the key number of 3.

Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears Preview
The Bears are coming of a huge win on MNF when they dismantled the Patriots. This game opened with the 'Boys as a 10 point favorite, but the line has dropped after the MNF win, with industry leader BetOnline moving to Cowboys -9.5. However, this will most likely rise to 10 again approaching kickoff Sunday afternoon and has at some of the mainstream sportsbooks already.

The Bears have run well this season, but on Monday night, they got QB Justin Fields more involved, with several designed runs for the mobile signal-caller. The Bears put up over 400 yards on the ground in their last two games and the Cowboys are just okay vs. the run. But the Dallas pass rush is worry some for the Bears. If Dallas can get a lead here, it may spell trouble for the Bears. This is a great betting matchup and Doug offers much more info and his free pick in the video
