Football season is contest season at online sportsbooks
There is no bigger time of year than the start of the NFL season for sports bettors and sportsbooks alike. This is when sportsbooks that take bets from U.S. players pull out all of the stops, offering big sign-up bonuses, reload deposits for existing players, free bets and big money contests. in 2024, the top online sportsbooks are again offering some great NFL contests, some with enormous prizes!
Here are some of the top contests running for the 2024 NFL season.
Pick 'Em Contests
Going back to the mid-2000s, many of the NFL contests at dozens of online sportsbooks were free to enter. But with shrinking margins and regulations in many U.S. states, most of the contests online for the 2024 NFL season now require not just an account at the sportsbook offering the contest, but also a fee. And, there are fewer contests thaan in the past with several books simply dropping NFL contests altogether.
MyBookie has been running their annual Super Contest for nearly a decade. This one is modeled after the old Hilton Superbook contest where players must pick 5 NFL games against the spread each week to earn points and climb the leaderboard. The big one at MyBookie is a $100,000 prize pool, with the winner grabbing $18K and places 1-250 cashing in. The $100K Super Contest costs $20 to enter and there is an added prize pool for each quarter of the season. Players who rise to the top in the first quarter and collect a cool $2500, with the top 10 spots getting paid.
BetOnline is offering up thier version of the Superbook contest with an added twist, where the bulk of the $200,000 in prize money is paid to weekly winners. The $200,000 MegaContest features $150,000 in weekly prizes and $50,000 cash in the season-long prize pool. Each week contestants that correctly pick 5 games will split $8,333.33 in Free Bets! The contest is free to enter and contestants can receive a maximum of two free entries. The first entry is free for active players at BetOnline and the second is triggered when any cryptocurrency deposit of $25 or more is made. But, to qualify for the weekly prize, players must wager $25 or more in real-money that week. At the end of the season the top 100 scores will split $50,000 in cash (no rollover) with first place getting a whopping $10,000.
BetUS has a handful of contests available! They offer a Pick 'Em contest that is similar to the OSGA Progressive Pick 'Em, where players can get weekly prizes and a season long prize. Each week, BetUS players pick the point spread winner for each NFL game with the top three players each week getting a weekly prize. First place is $1,000, 2nd place gets $250 and third grabs a $100 free play. In addition, the season long champion gets a cool $2,500!
Survivor Contests
Multiple online sportsbooks are offering Survivor or Last Man Standing contests. On these types of contests, players pick one team to win each week, straight-up (SU), meaning no point spread is involved. If the team selected wins, the player remains alive and continues on to the following week. If the team picked loses or ties, the player is eliminated. Once a team is selected, that team is not available for selection for the remainder of the contest. It sounds easy - just pick one winner each week. But with the ultra competitive NFL and the caveat of not picking the same team twice, it is quite tough to be the sole Survivor.
The biggest prize comes from BetOnline - a whopping $312,350. The BetOnline 300K NFL Survivor Contest requires a small entry free of $30, with players able to purchase up to 25 entries, where the more entries you buy, the less they cost! This prize pool is still growing and currently is an eye-popping $312,250! This is a winner take allcontest, but if there are mutiple players left standing at the end of Week 18, the prize will be split evenly among the winners.
MyBookie also tips the scales with a huge prize pool of $100,000 for their Survivor Contest. There is a small $10 entry fee and players can buy up to a whopping 50 entries to vie for the title of sole survivor.
Jazz Sports also has a Last Man Standing competition, where the winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000. The Survivor contest at Jazz does cost $10 to enter, but players can earn an extra entry for any deposit of $100 or more. In addition, Jazz Sports customers can play against OSGA!! OSGA will be playing in their popular Survivor contest and Jazz customers can cash-in by beating OSGA! Simply send us your user/screen name in the Jazz Survivor contest and we'll notify them that you are trying to beat us!
